LANGUAGE APP FOR ORDERING AT STARBUCKS
Dune Dills
Game: A language app for ordering at Starbucks.
We open on a Starbucks coffee shop. The barista, Roger, is taking customer, Sharon’s, order.
ROGER
Hello, what can I get for you?
SHARON
(looks at the menu with a pained expression)
Coffee, please.
ROGER
Okay sure, but which kind of coffee? We have 8,752 menu items.
Sharon pulls out her phone. On the screen, we see 4 cartoonish images of different fancy Starbucks coffees. They are labeled: “Venti Cinnamon Dolce Latte”, “Starbucks Reserve Hazelnut Bianco Latte”, “Grande Honey Almondmilk Flat White”, “Venti Espresso con Panna”.
Sharon pushes one of the icons and a robotic voice reads out “Venti Cinnamon Dolce Latte”.
Sharon looks at Roger.
SHARON
Lenti…Cinnamon Folce Matte.
The phone screen turns red as an error message appears.
ROGER
Excuse me, what was that?
SHARON
Renti Cinnamon Golce Watte?
The phone screen turns red again.
SHARON
Oh dang it, I’m almost out of hearts!
The line behind Sharon starts getting really long, everyone clearly impatient.
Blackout.
